I watched the whole thing!
Kept thinking that I would turn this one off as it did not immediately 'blow my dress up' but about half through the movie it somewhat intrigued me and I had to finish it. Not as bad as some would let you think. Fairly entertaining. Fodder for stormy night boredom.

Disappointing
Thoroughly muddled mess which starts promisingly with some interesting secondary characters. Unfortunately it's plagued with too many voiceovers, flashbacks, and killer's point of view shots. Filmed in 1972 (though one source says 1970), it sat on the shelf until 1974. Actor James Patterson died shortly after filming his scenes, which probably didn't help.

Good but could've been better
I agree with Ann. The movie is pretty interesting in itself, and would've been much better had it stuck to the story and not gone into the slasher genre. There are certainly flaws (like the shadow of the camera operator all the way down the hall in a POV scene), but the story made it very watchable.

This 70's show had stye, but ............
This movie was loaded with interesting desirable places, furniture and clothes, but the murders were quickies out of place and intrusive on the otherwise interesting movie. I'm sorry they bothered with the gore. I wish they had just made this one a hippie movie without the bloody night.
It shows proof positive that not everyone dressed bad in the 70's.

Most of this film is pretty tedious in the story department--it's the last 20 minutes or so that show exactly how genuinely horrifying zero budget can be. The characters are dull and writ in large red crayon, but the film still manages a general sense of unease.
Okay, maybe I have a sepia phobia. In any case, short (therefore not annoying), vaguely creepy, only put it on for the kids if you seriously dislike the little brutes you're minding. "Home for the holidays..."

Dull
Perhaps the lead actors were directed to be dull - speak in monotones and remain expressionless - to match the bleak setting, but these combined with a slowly developing story, very little action, slow, repetitive music in muted tones, and B-grade production values made this a cinematic sleeping pill. Give me Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th anytime.
I downloaded the 700MB AVI file. It played Ok in VLC. The movie has been cropped or pan-and-scanned and seen better days. The video and audio quality were good enough.
